“Becoming an altar server has been a wonderful way to teach me all the intricate details of Mass,” she says. “Because I have that in-depth knowledge of what’s happening, I feel much more connected to… the meaning of what we do and why.”

“Youth, Teen Altar Servers Say Faith Grows Stronger”

Looking for something to do at Mass?
Becoming an Altar Server would be a great way to participate!
Assisting the priest and deacon as an Altar Server can be such a meaningful and faith-filling experience for those who decide to participate in this important way. Not only do you play an active role during each liturgy and have a front row seat to all the action, but you have the opportunity to learn more about our faith, our traditions, and our God.
At Our Lady of Knock Parish, boys and girls are allowed to begin participating as altar servers once that have received their First Holy Communion. At this point, they have learned about the importance of the Mass and the Eucharist and can appropriately assist in the activities and prayers that are going on during the celebration of the liturgy.
We are always recruiting new individuals and families to add to our Altar Server roster, so if a member of your family is interested, please contact the Parish Office. From there, we can answer any initial questions that you have about serving in this way, help schedule a time for training, and hopefully get you onto our ministry schedule.
